Philips TV was one of the first with a TV connected to the internet. They have launched the app store with several news and media services. Media Bridges approached several broadcasters across Europe to launch their Catch Up TV and VOD services. Examples are RTL Gemist, ARD – ZDF Mediathek, Netflix, Youtube, Maxdome and Pathe Thuis. Later on we approached the broadcasters again to add their TV channels as live streams into the new service Cloud TV. Cloud TV is the same as Apple TV channels, Samsung TV channels and ROKU TV channels. An TV app with ad supported linear TV channels.
We were involved in the talks with other TV brands to create CE-HTML standard, with resulted in HbbTV specification. Hybrid broadcast broadband TV (HbbTV) is a global initiative aimed at harmonising the broadcast and broadband delivery of entertainment services to consumers through connected TVs, set-top boxes and multiscreen devices.
